Onsite Wastewater Treatment System Management

Septic Folder

In the area of Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) Management, the Water Resources Program has made a commitment to raising awareness of the proper care and maintenance of septic systems. Through its involvements in the USDA-CSREES Region 2 Regional Water Quality Program, the Water Resources Program is continuing to evaluate the use of alternative treatment systems, homeowner awareness of their system’s proper care and maintenance, and the possibilities of a management system organized by the municipality. We have prepared a series of five Fact Sheets on OWTS that will help municipalities, planners, and engineers address the problems associated with OWTS.

OWTS Fact Sheets:

Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems: Operating Permits, FS533, 4pp., 8/11/05

Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems: Accessorizing Your Septic System, FS532, 2pp., 4/13/05
