Onsite Wastewater Treatment System Management

In the area of Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) Management, the Water Resources Program has made a commitment to raising awareness of the proper care and maintenance of septic systems. Through its involvements in the USDA-CSREES Region 2 Regional Water Quality Program, the Water Resources Program has evaluated the use of alternative treatment systems, homeowner awareness of their system’s proper care and maintenance, and the possibilities of a management system organized by the municipality. We have prepared a series of five Fact Sheets on OWTS that will help municipalities, planners, and engineers address the problems associated with OWTS.

OWTS Fact Sheets:

Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems: Operating Permits, FS533, 4pp., 8/11/05
