    History:

The Hanson House/Hanson Park Conservancy rain garden was installed
    as part of the
Stormwater Management in Your Backyard program that trained
the Master Gardeners of Union County.

    Type of Runoff Managed:

This rain garden manages stormwater from the garage's roof and parking lot located
at the Hanson House/Hanson Park Conservancy.

    Installation:

Approximately fifteen volunteers, which included the
Master Gardeners of Union
County, members of the Rahway River Association, and members of the Hanson Park
Conservancy, were present for the installation of the rain garden in Fall
2005, which was approved by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the
Hanson House/Hanson Park Conservancy.  The Cranford Township Department of
Public Works provided in-kind assistance for the rain garden installation.
